Perhaps, the launch of the Vernee Apollo is a sign that 6GB RAM smartphones would soon be all around us. It was just early this year that Vivo Xplay 5 was released to a lot of fanfare as the first 6GB RAM Android smartphone. It was suppose to be a rarity since the market leaders like Samsung Galaxy S7 were still at the 4GB RAM stage. It is clear the Chinese are not going to wait for Samsung to be the trend setters.

Vernee Apollo

Vernee is a relatively new Chinese OEM. But it is clear they want to be taken seriously. Vernee Apollo is actually the second phone from the company after the awesome and dirt cheap Vernee Thor. I think they are on to something the way they choose to name their phones after classical Greek gods. It won’t be a surprise if Vernee decided to name their Flagship the Zeus series. In honor of the King of gods himself.

Apart from the 6GB RAM, the Vernee Apollo, also has some eye-popping specifications to complement the RAM; all at a cost of just $399. Blackberry should take a hint about how it is possible to make high-end specs at budget prices from Vernee.

Vernee Apollo Specifications
Vernee are pitching the Apollo as a high-end phone, it is in that spirit that the body or outer casing of the phone is made from metal. The 5.5 inch unibody Vernee Apollo has a QHD display with a Force Touch screen. Which means you get a display as sensitive as the iPhone 6s complete with 3D gestures.

Under the hood, Vernee Apollo went for broke. The chipset is the latest and best from MediaTek,the impressive Helio X20 chipset with a total of 10 cores. This makes it a deca-core smartphone. The cores are arranged in 3 clusters; 2 Cortex-A72 processors clocked at 2.5 GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.5 GHz and another 4 Cortex-A53 processors clocked at 1.4 GHz.

According to Vernee, the processors were arranged in such a manner to give improved performance and optimal power consumption. Though, the battery specs is not yet available, if Vernee stick to the high end specs of the Vernee Apollo, the battery capacity is going to be good. And you can be sure the duration of a single charge on normal/heavy is going to be impressive given the amount of cores. Already we know there is the USB Type-C port for fast charging and data exchange.

The operating system is the Android 6, Marshmallow; 128GB of internal storage; and for extra security, the Vernee Apollo has a fingerprint sensor at the back. The camera specs are also something. The phone spots a 21MP rear camera with the top class Sony IMX230 sensor. The front camera is also impressive at 8MP.

When this phone would be released is not known exactly. But hopefully, it would be sometime this month. After the release of those mouth-watering specs in a budget phone, techies are really impatient to get hold of the phone and test it. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see how a 6GB RAM, ten-core phone works in the real world?
