Drones are getting increasingly popular as private individuals and organizations alike acquire their own copy of the gadget. While these set of drone owners acquire them mostly either for business or pleasure, the uses of drones spans widely from this two uses. Militarily for espionage , industrially for product monitoring, commercially for goods delivery to many others, the list of drone application is ever growing. As consumers demand for drones increases , designers and producers of the gadgets have come up with more and more designs and models of them. This year’s Consumer Electronics Show was a cocktail of innovative trends, ingenious gadgets, with a touch of futuristic gizmos. At the event, Hexo — a French startup showcased its Hexo drones. The hexo drone could easily pass for one of, if not the most user-freindly drone at CES 2016. Unlike most drones, the Hexo drone is piloted wwithout a full-fledged controller, pilots fly the Hexo+ by executing pre-determined movements using a companion smartphone application. With just simple clicks of the application , pilots can quickly change the orientation and flight pattern of the drone, granting some amount of control over where it flies. Landing the drone is done with just a button click and selecting “360 — far away” for instance, sends the Hexo+ in perfect 360-degree circles around the pilot while also consistently keeping the camera focused solely on them.
MOTA showcased a lot of drones at CES 2016, in all fairness, all its drones were awesome. Nonetheless, its drones that really got lots of spectators “wowified” is the Jetjat nano drone. The drone, barely the size of a matchbox toy car fits perfectly inside its controller with a snap-on cap to keep it secure. “Agile and fast, the jetjat nano drone can zoom at high speeds, hover, perform flips and acrobatics”. Being small is not much of a disadvantage for basic use, the jetjat nano drone is a fully functional quadcopter. With the jetjat nano drone, small is the new big. Retailing at just $40 a piece, It comes equipped with a 2.4 GHz wireless signal and 4-channel controller.
Trying to keep up to its presumed reputation as the purveyor of the world’s smallest and lightest drones with a 3-axis gimbal and high-definition camera, Shanghai Nine Eagles Electronic Technology Company once again showcased another of its UAV at the CES 2016 — The Mola Tourist. Physically the mola tourist is nothing like the Mola X1.0 , but their working mechanism is pretty much very similar. Its calling card is supposedly its simple flight controls, intelligent safety systems, and lightweight build. Like many other drones at CES 2016, the Tourist 1 is specifically crafted for capturing videos and photos. The tourist 1 is a gadget that will definitely come handy for most tourist hoping to get the best experience during sightseeing.

Like the saying goes, let’s save the best for the last (am not really sure I got that right). The Ehang 184 is definitely worth saving for the last. With a top speed of 60mph and a maximum altitude of 11,000 feet, the ehang 184 virtually stole the show at CES 2016. Designed by Chinese drone engineers, the ehang is the first passenger drone in the technology market — The World’s only autonomous human size drone ( at least as of 15 January 2016). The 184 was designed to be eco-freindly with 100% with green technology, and is powered by electricity only. Featuring four arms and eight propellers, the Ehang offers great lifting power and the best of safety. Being a passenger drone, one that is meant to cruise at 60mph, Ehang the Chinese company that produces has paid much attention to safety. The Ehang 184 is designed with full redundancy — If one set of the power system are operating abnormal, the vehicle can still operate a normal flight plan and ensure the safety of the passenger together with the vehicle. It features a fail safe system that ensures that If any components malfunction or disconnect, the aircraft will immediately land in the nearest possible area to ensure safety. The communication is encrypted and each Ehang 184 has its independent key. Will you get to fly the Ehang 184 anytime soon? Well, as much as lots of people will like that, it’s honestly not happening anytime soon. Worst off, how national aviation agency of different countries will handle the air traffic and safety is a nightmare.
