It is an extreme oldness to just ascertain at this point that the country is in recession, prices of almost everything has skyrocketed and minimum wage is not smiling at all. Well, still yet, as long as we survive, and we still crave for what we crave for, I’m guessing we can’t do without smartphones.

Smartphones have become so inculcated into our daily life that it is very hard for some people to drop it for a moment. It’s like an addiction to some (guilty though). And there comes this period of recession when there is not enough money to buy your desired phones. Don’t worry, we got you covered as we bring you a list of smartphones you can get currently for less than N40,000 in Nigerian naira.

If your budget is around N40,000 or less, the I think we should move and get on with the list. Stay with me.

1. Tecno L8 Lite – N38,000

As you must have noticed, Tecno L8 Lite is a toned down version of the Tecno L8. The phone has a battery capacity of around 4000 mAh which appears like one of its major selling point. It has a 5.0 inch display, with a camera quality of 8 MP and 5 MP on its rear and front facing camera respectively. I can tell you that the phone is lit, because I’ve handled (handling) one, ND most importantly, it is priced below N40,000.

This one too, is a lite version. It is much more affordable as it features a price below N40,000, while it offers just about the same specs as the Hot4 with the main differences being that the Lite variant drops the fingerprint sensor and offers half the memory with only 1GB RAM.

3. Tecno W5 Lite – N36,400

Tecno W5 Lite is a stripped down variant of the Tecno W5. It does not feature the 4G LTE and fingerprint sensor and reduces the 5MP front camera to 2MP. Tecno W5 Lite features a 5.5-inch Display, a 13MP rear camera, and Android 6.0, with a cheap below N40,000 price.

Now, let us put aside the fact that it supports superfast downloads and streaming and that it is also sleek in looks, the Android phone is just another cheap phone for the masses. Gionee P8w features a 5-inch display and runs on Android 6.0, while it is just a bit under N40,000.

6. Tecno W3 – N27,000

As you might envisage, this smartphone is the most affordable in the lineup. Tecno W3 features a 5-inch Display and a 2500 mAh battery. Both this at just N27,000. Isn’t that affordable enough for you?

7. Gionee P5 Mini – N31,000

Even though this phone can be said to be budget centric, it is sure appealing to a lot of people. The device features an FWVGA display, a quad-core processor and Android Lollipop OS. It shares a lot in common with the Gionee Pioneer P5 launched some time back.

10. Itel S31 – N37,820

This new one from itel runs on an Android Operating system 6.0 Marshmallow and the screen measures 5.5 inches with a 1280 * 720 pixels (HD). The body was built with a metal aluminum design. And it is under N40,000 too.
