Samsung Galaxy C8, the super fast smartphone,

Just yesterday, we took a look at the Samsung Galaxy J7+ that was launched for pre-order in Thailand. Hardly did we know that details of the China version of the smartphone will be quick to get out. Bearing a lot of similarities with the Samsung Galaxy J7+ in categories such as the design, screen display and many others, the Samsung Galaxy C8 is a like a complete clone of the Samsung Galaxy J7+. However, there’s one major difference between the two identical smartphones. I won’t reveal that just yet. Though, I promise you that as we take a look at the specifications of the smartphone, we’ll also dig deep into the feature that contrasts the Thailand’s Samsung Galaxy J7+ from the China’s Samsung Galaxy C8. MAJOR DIFFERENCE

DISPLAY

Its display is exactly the same as the Samsung J7+. Its screen size is 5.5 inches with Full HD Display. The display comes with a 2.5D Curved Glass. The screen display of the smartphone has a relatively large screen that allows for the viewing of movies, videos and playing games. The display type of the smartphone is the Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.  The screen resolution of the smartphone is 1920 x 1080 pixels. This colour quality takes care of the clarity of texts, images and icons. The display has 16 million colours.

DESIGN

With complete similarity to the Samsung Galaxy J7+, the smartphone is wrapped in a metal unibody design. The smartphone has a length of 152.4 mm, a width of 74.7 mm and a slim thickness of 7.9mm. The front of the smartphone has a cool design. At the top bezel, there is the earpiece which stays at the centre of the bezel. The left side is occupied by the front camera while the right is occupied by the proximity sensor and the LED flash. Beneath the earpiece is the “SAMSUNG” logo. On the bottom bezel, two soft keys are located with the fingerprint sensor located at the centre of the soft keys. The rear houses the dual camera setup and the LED flash in a vertical arrangement. The ‘SAMSUNG’ logo appears under the LED flash. The power button of the smartphone is located on the right hand side while the left hand side is home to the two volume buttons. Black, Gold and Rose Gol are the expected colours of the smartphone.

CAMERA

Samsung Galaxy C8 is in no way different from the Samsung Galaxy J7+ in this category. It has a dual camera setup at its rear for taking excellent images and recording quality videos. The dual camera setup has a primary sensor of 13MP and a secondary sensor of 5MP. The smartphone’s rear camera record videos at 1080p. The rear camera has the following features also: auto focus, face detection, touch focus and f/1.7 aperture (the latest aperture in the trend of cameras). The rear camera possesses a LED flash for brightening images in dark or low light conditions. The front camera is also a sweetheart. the selfie camera has a 16MP sensor that promises great quality for selfies. The front camera also has an aperture but this time, it’s the f/1.9 aperture. The front camera also has a soft LED flash for brightening images in low light conditions. The front camera of Samsung Galaxy C8 not only takes great selfie pictures, it also records quality videos.

PROCESSOR AND OPERATING SYSTEM

Samsung Galaxy C8’s processor is just the same as the Samsung Galaxy J7+ in its super fast nature. The smartphone is bound to come with the 64-bit MediaTek Helio P20 16nm chipset. The processor has 8 cores, that is, octa core. This processor runs at a dual processor speed of 2.39GHz and 1.69GHz. This means that four of the processors runs at the max speed of 2.39GHz while the rest run a speed of 1.69GHz. That’s to ensure it’s an incredibly fast smartphone. The handling of graphics is handled by a pro also, the ARM Mali T880. The operating system on the smartphone is off the cart Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. The user can also makes use of the split-screen functionality accessible on the Nougat OS.

SENSORS

The fingerprint sensor is located on the bottom bezel of the smartphone’s frontal. Other sensors on the device are the accelerometer, proximity sensor (located on the top bezel) and the light sensor.

MEMORY

I said earlier that the major difference if not the only difference between the two smartphones is the variance in storage. While Samsung Galaxy J7+ has only one 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage package, the Samsung Galaxy J7+ has two storage variants in both the RAM and the internal storage departments. The smartphone has the 3GB RAM variant and a 4GB variant. The RAM handles the smooth multi-tasking of the smartphone as well as slick running of apps. There is also the 32GB ROM variant and the 64GB ROM variant. The 3GB RAM variant has the 32GB internal storage while the 4GB RAM variant has the 64GB internal memory. On both variants, the internal storage is expandable to 256GB with the aid of a micro SD card.

CONNECTIVITY

In like manner as the J7+, Samsung Galaxy C8 not only has the 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity but also the 3G and 2G network types. It has a dual SIM functionality. The bluetooth version on it is the out of box Bluetooth v4.2. Wi-Fi connectivity is present on the smartphone. The Wi-Fi standards supported on the smartphone is the Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4+ 5GHz), Wi-Fi Direct and Hotspot. The USB connectivity on the smartphone is the USB v2.0 and the USB On The Go (OTG). For location purposes, Samsung Galaxy C8 has the GPS enabled along with A-GPS and GLONASS. Neither Infrared nor NFC is present on the smartphone for connectivity.

BATTERY

Powering the Samsung Galaxy C8 is a non-removable Li-Ion 3,000mAh battery. Similar battery capacity to the Samsung Galaxy J7+ which is definitely one that heavy smartphone users wouldn’t fancy much. The use of a power bank could actually make the device even more durable. The official statement about its standby time and talk time is not available at the moment. However, the smartphone doesn’t have the Quick charge feature in its battery makeup.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Just like the Samsung Galaxy J7+, the Samsung Galaxy C8 is expected to be released soon. Unlike the J7+, the smartphone’s price is not known.
