Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) price in Nigeria, China, specs and review'

Writer and Social entrepreneur.

It is already seeming like the year 2017 would be much much better than 2016 – i really do hope so – when it comes to the smartphone world. The different phone makers have all lined up a variety of smart phones with very different specs – both discouraging and spirit lifting specs. We’re really expecting some real phones next year.

Also not left out is our dear Samsung who is looking to have an upgrade of the Samsung Galaxy A5. The 2016 version was released earlier this year and now, I present to you the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017).

It is a widespread practice for these phone makers to do an upgrade to some of their phone series and this is just what Samsung is about to do. LG is not left out as they have also announced plans, also, Apple have been rumored to be coming up with an upgrade to the iPhone 7. However, we do not know if Samsung would be launching this new baby at an event – maybe the CES 2017 or any other – or not. What can we do than to wait?

But while we wait, it would be my pleasure to take a walk with you round the specs of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) – which in my own opinion, seems to be a medium range phone. STAY…

You see, when it comes to the design of a phone, my faith in the Samsung brand is very unshaken. The phone is built with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 back panel and measures 145 mm in length x 71 mm in breadth and 7.8 mm in thickness.

It has a 5.2 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. If I were to be in the position of a Galaxy A5 (2017) smartphone user, I’d say I can manage the screen size but I will appreciate a much larger one, say a 5.7 inches or even more.

Given that the previous version was also 5.2 inches, I was expecting an upgrade from Samsung on this one, but still too though.

It runs on an Android Operating System, v7.0 (Nougat).

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) boasts of a 32 GB ROM which can be expanded via a micro SD card to the size of 256 GB. I don’t know why this seem like a standard for all smartphones that can be expanded by a SD card.

Moving forward, it has a 3 GB RAM too, which could translate that the phone would run fairly effective, and is okay for a medium range phone. The RAM and ROM is a remarkable upgrade from the 2016 version which featured 2 GB and 32 GB respectively.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) possesses a Exynos 7880 Octa-core processor with 1.9 GHz processor speed. Sensors available include accelerometer, proximity, compass and a front mouthed fingerprint sensor.

It is very rear to see a phone which features the same camera quality for both the rear and front facing camera. In most times, the rear camera quality is usually higher than the front facing camera.

However, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has decided to go against that tradition featuring a 16 MP camera on both the primary (rear) and secondary (front facing) camera. So of you love selfies, be rest assured that with this smartphone, you’ll have exactly the same camera quality with your lovely front camera as with the rear.

Now, its time to talk about like the most important thing in a phone – the powerhouse. The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh. It is a non removable Li-Ion battery which of course, supports fast charging. To me, batteries with the 3000 mAh capacity is a good one, though still subjected to the price of the phone.

While batteries are the powerhouse, the price of a phone is the determinant – to an extent of course – of the sales that phone might make. Well, the price of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is reportedly pegged at about 2,699 Yuan translating to around N122,000 in naira. Now, I don’t see this as a fair price.
