Hi.. I Am max!

Sony Intl has announced that its flagship gaming gadget — the PlayStation 4 has hit a record 30.2 million units sales worldwide since its release in late 2013. The record breaking sales, though phenomenal was however quite expected considering the track record the PS4 console had after it official launch. The gaming gadget hit a jaw dropping 250,000 units sales in the UK alone with 2.1 million units worldwide.

In what is shaping up to be a historic year for gamers, I’m delighted to share an important new milestone with you. PS4’s North American debut on 15th November was PlayStation’s largest ever, with more than one million gamers picking up a PS4 in just 24 hours. Now, with PS4’s global launch expanding to a total of 32 countries worldwide, including Europe and Latin America, I’m proud to announce that more than 2.1 million PS4s have been sold. Sony Computer Entertainment president said in a 2013 Sony Entertainment blog Post.

The 30.2 million figure is as of Sunday, November 22nd, and Sony Entertainment also said “PS4 continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history.” That makes the PlayStation 4 the fastest- selling Sony console ever, and puts it ahead of any of the previous PlayStations at the same point in their lifespan. To be more precise, the PS4 hit the 30 million units milestone two months faster than the PlayStation 2 – which is currently the best-selling home console of all time. The PS4 is currently outpacing the PS2 in sales ‘speed’ but it is unlikely to out-sale it in ‘actual numbers’. By geek’s calculations the PlayStation 4 will have to hit a million unit sales in Five and a half years to outsale the PS2. Considering the presence of capable competition like Nintendo’s WiiU and Microsoft’s Xbox , achieving a better sales record in the limited timeframe will be quite honestly quite herculean. In response to request for comments on the Xbox one, Microsoft Xbox vice president Yusuf Mehdi told Ars Technica that the company is “seeing record breaking sales and [we] are selling every Xbox One we can make.” Microsoft hasn’t revealed Xbox One’s actual sales figures in over a year, but it however hinted last November that it was close to having shipped 10 million units to retailers. Though the PS4 has consistently outsold the Xbox One in Microsoft’s traditional stronghold of North America, last month according to NPD figures, the Xbox One was on top in the US for the first time since April. Nintendo’s Wii U, which was launched a year before the PS4 and Xbox One, has shipped 10.73 million units worldwide as of September 30th 2015. The company reported net sales of $4.6 billion, with 75.4 percent consisting of overseas sales, and an operating income of $207 million. Ordinary income was $591 million and net income was $350 million.
