For the past weeks now, maybe even months, the only news we’ve been hearing and reading about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is how it exploded, destroyed properties and even hurt the owners, an action which has led Samsung to recall the device twice finding no remedy to the situation as they themselves are in the dark as to what is happening.

Despite the grave danger a Note 7 unit poses to the owner and surrounding alike, and the order Samsung put out for all units to be returned and exchanged for another phone, couple with the ban on sales in some countries and also the ban in airports – this list is endless – , PhoneArena has found a store located in hongkong that still has a good number of Galaxy Note 7 units displayed on its shelf for sale.

Please note that the photo was taken after Samsung ordered that all Note 7 units should be returned.

This has led me to ask myself why anyone would need a Note 7 unit, and what for? I don’t know why someone would still buy a Note 7 at this time but let’s take a look at some possible reasons.

Anyone selling the Note 7 now would be selling at a huge discount, so we want to assume those buying are buying because of that discount. Maybe not the discount alone, they might be buying it so they can exchange it for a Galaxy S7 edge. If they do this, they would receive the difference in price between the full Galaxy Note 7 price and the Galaxy S7 edge price and a $100 bill credit.

If this is one of the reasons, then I’d say it is a smart reason if the buyer is smart enough not to make use of the unit before going for the exchange.

However, it is so sad that only Samsung would be taking the hit – mostly financially.

Another reason might just be that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a great phone, with great specs. It is/was a sleek and powerful phone with great features like the S Pen. Need I also mention that it is the first phone in the Note series to have an IP67 certification rating.

But If someone says to me that this is the reason he is buying a Note 7 at this age and time, I’ll not only call it a dumb reason, I’ll call he himself ‘dumb’, because it is certainly beyond me to fathom how a person would want to risk his limbs and properties all because of a ‘great phone’.

Well, whatever reason you may have, our candid advice is that you stay away from a Note 7, because even the manufacturers themselves don’t know what went wrong with it YET.
