Microsoft in collaboration with The Tony Elumelo Foundation (TEF)  has through it’s for Africa Initiative has taken a Land mark feat in creating for entrepreneurs the technology based tools, resources and mentorship required for them to modernise their businesses.

Microsoft in a press release said and i quote ” that through the support of the two organisations this will help entrepreneurs to use Information and Communication Technology to modernise their businesses”.

The General Manager of Microsoft Nigeria; Akin Banuso said ” the company has found that Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs (SMEs) who adopt modern Information Technology have seen 15% faster revenue growth than those not using Information Technology ”

Every year the Tony Elumelo Foundation (TEF) Entrepreneurship programme gives opportunity with business training, mentoring, Seed Capital Funding Access and membership into the Tony Elumelo Foundation Africa Wide Network to a thousand (1000) entrepreneurs.

This Microsoft 4Africa partnership with Tony Elumelo Foundation Entrepreneurship programme intends to create and make available to the entrepreneurs the following:

  • Access to cloud-based software, online support and technology through BizSpark
  • Access to information and markets through the Biz4Afrika platform, where SMEs can trade with similar-sized organisations
  • Technical training on Microsoft technologies and platforms during the 2017 TEF Forum
  • Online business and technology training through the Microsoft Virtual Academy, to support entrepreneurs through their startup, growth and acceleration phases
  • Access to Microsoft experts for virtual and in-person mentorship through the MySkills4Afrika programme
  • Access to the Interns4Afrika programme, for entrepreneurs to build their talent pipeline

In reference to the Tony Elumelo Foundation Entrepreneurship “.With Microsoft on-board, we’re adding an essential ICT platform and partner to this mix, which will help to strengthen the capacity of our entrepreneurs – ensuring they remain relevant and competitive.”

Also “in addition Microsoft will identify high potential entrepreneurs from the Tony Elumelo Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme and integrate them into its Innovation Grant Programme”.

This Innovation Grant Programme has provided financial support to over 55 local startups, who have since generated $5.1 million in reciprocal investments from far back as 2013.
