As we reported yesterday by one of us here at Tech products about Mark Zuckerberg visits to Nigeria, which caught every one of us at tech reportage niche unaware , the gist was brokered by an online Media account at Red Media Africa

The main reason why Mark Zuckerberg was in Nigeria was to come and learn some few things he can take back to Facebook headquarters on how to improve Facebook services in Sub-Saharan Africa. Note; this is the first time Mark Zuckerberg will be visiting Africa in general, and we in Nigerians are kind of proud to be the choice country. As I was saying earlier, some important reason why founder is also here is to boost the relationship between Facebook and developers in Nigeria. The other things as reported by other media are to visit the Yaba technology hub in Lagos, meet with developers and partners, and explore Nollywood. ooh? our Nollywood?

When Mark Zuckerberg was coming to Nigeria, he stopped at CCHub building at Yaba, a ‘Summer of Code Camp’ at the Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) in Yaba, known as the Silicon Valley of Nigeria.

CChub was established in 2011, and that time, it does not have an office but look at them now, they have filled about 3 floors of a building and they have the record of hosting the 5th richest billionaire in the world.

Zuckerberg met with developers like Temi Giwa, who runs a platform called Life Bank (http://www.LifeBank.ng) that makes blood available when and where it is needed in Nigeria.

While at CCHub, Mark Zuckerberg was excited in saying “This is my first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. I’ll be meeting with developers and entrepreneurs, and learning about the startup ecosystem in Nigeria. The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as much as I can.

“The first place I got to visit was the Co-creation Hub Nigeria (CcHUB) in Yaba. I got to talk to kids at a summer coding camp and entrepreneurs who come to CcHub to build and launch their apps. I’m looking forward to meeting more people in Nigeria.”

After that, Mark Zuckerberg when ahead to visits Andela office in Yaba, if we didn’t forget, of a recent, Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) invested about 24 million dollars in the company that tend to reach out to young people to code and make them competitive enough for them to be hired by the top companies in the world. So we are all right if we say one of the visits to is to communicate with the management of Andela one on one to see where things could be improved.

The other important thing why Facebook was here is the launching of the Facebook Express Wifi, express Wifi helps developers and internet users to have access to the cheap internet, it is not absolutely free like Free Basic which Facebook partners with Airtel that was launched some months back. This service helps users where the technology is present to browse as low as #1600 for 5GB. The company that is handling the Facebook Express Wifi in Nigeria is owned by Rosemary Njoku, with the company named Coollink.

I will come up with the data plans of the Coollink in my next post as seen on some websites.
