So LG is planning to launch some smartphones by next year at an event – CES to be precise – which comes up around January 4th. While we all wait for that launch date to come upon us, I want to present to you one of the phones which would be present at the launch event, and would actually be launched. – the LG K10 (2017).
While they prepare to launch this one, there are also its “siblings” preparing to be launched too, which are the LG K8 (2017) and both their big cousin, the LG Stylus 3. You can read about that below;
The LG K10 (2017) could pass as a “big bro” to the LG K8 as its specifications are a bit higher than the latter and relatively lower than the LG Stylus 3. Though it ain’t in the same series as the LG Stylus 3, which has its own predecessor – the LG Stylus 2. This 2017 version is an improved version of the 2016 K10.
Not to waste anymore time, let’s go straight to the crux of the matter. Please note that at certain intervals, we would be referring to the LG Stylus 3. – let’s get moving.
TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN
The size of a phone screen is a very big deal, at least to me and a few other people who might love using their smart phones for activities in which the screen size might be an advantage – say playing games, watching movies and all. In this aspect, the LG K10 might pass but to an extent, with its 5.3 inch HD resolution screen. This is exactly same as the old version but some inches lower than the LG stylus 3.
The device measures 148.7 in length x 75.3 breadth x 7.9 mm in thickness while it weighs 142g – I don’t know what it is with phones weighing this much, LG needs to get serious.
It runs on an Android Operating System, v7.0 (Nougat) and has a Mediatek MT6750 processor.
HARDWARE AND MEMORY
While the previous version came in different RAM sizes which are the 1GB, 1.5GB and the 2GB, this 2017 version of the K10 comes with a much improved RAM – 2GB – for very fast performance. I’d give them a thumbs up for this one. The internal storage is 32GB which can be expanded with the use of a micro SD card to 256GB.
It has a Mediatek MT6750 processor and the sensors available include accelerometer, proximity and of course, a fingerprint sensor.
The camera is 13 Mega Pixel at the rear and 5 Mega Pixel at the front – same with the LG Stylus 3 – it also possesses a LED flash. Some of the features are Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama.
Photo lovers should be okay with the rear camera.
MULTIMEDIA AND CONNECTIVITY
The phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct, hotspot. Bluetooth is of v4.2. It has GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio and microUSB v2.0.
Battery is pegged at 2,800 mAh, remarkably lower than the 3,200 mAh of the LG Stylus 3. I am not too happy with the battery capacity of this device, they sure can do better.
The price of the LG K10 (2017) in Nigeria should be around N35,000, and between ksh10,000 – ksh12,000.
