After phones like the Infinix Hot 2, Hot 3 amongst others all in the Hot series, Infinix Mobility has released a variant of the Infinix Hot 4. The new variant is called the Infinix Hot 4 Lite, but it’s not the first variant of the Hot 4 we’ve seen; the Infinix Hot 4 Pro has been released previously.

Just like its name implies, the Infinix Hot 4 Lite is a watered down version of the Hot 4, and it was released to suit those who want the juicy features of the Hot 4 but can’t purchase it because of its price. The Hot 4 Lite can also be regarded as a Hot 3 with larger battery, XOS/Marshmallow and better selfie camera.

Infinix Hot 4 is an upgrade to Infinix Hot 3– the first smartphone launched by Infinix this year (2016), and Hot 4 Lite is its lighter version.

DISPLAY & DESIGN

The Infinix Hot 4 Lite has the same design language as the Hot 4. The back is textured, the LED display is 5.5 inches wide and it has an HD (1280 * 720) pixel resolution.

MEMORY & PERFORMANCE

The Same SoC setup in the Hot 4 is also present in the Infinix Hot 4 Lite. It is powered by the same MediaTek MT6580 processor with a speed of 1.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 processor cores. It also contains a Mali 400 GPU.

Unlike the Hot 4 with 2GB RAM, the Infinix Hot 4 Lite has 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB with micro SD card.

BATTERY

The Hot 4 Lite possesses the same 4,000mAh battery capacity found in its standard variant. The phone comes with a 5V/2A power adapter and Infinix’s Xcharge for faster charging, though this has been said to have minimum effect in the Hot 4.
However, with Xcharge, the Hot 4 Lite should be able to be fully in about 99 Minutes.

CONNECTIVITY

The Hot 4 Lite has 3G WCDMA network capability, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless connectivity, a USB 3.0 port which gives it OTG support, GPS for navigation, a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio streaming, and a Dual Micro-SIM slot.

I don’t why it doesn’t have a 4G network – many had hoped it would – but how can we complain when its standard variant, Hot 4 doesn’t too.

CAMERA

The rear bears an 8MP camera while a 5MP selfie camera is present at the front. The front camera is paired with a soft LED flash.

This camera setup is the same as the Hot 4 but unlike the Hot 3 that came with 3000 mAh battery and 2 MP front camera. Nice upgrade I must say.

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE

It isn’t really cool that the fingerprint sensor is absent on the Hot 4 Lite. It still has two stereo speakers with Smart Voice noise reduction technology. The Infinix Hot 4 Lite runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Infinix’s XOS Chameleon UI layered on top.

The absence of the fingerprint sensor might be one of the many other features that classifies it as ‘lite’. The Hot 4 sure has a fingerprint sensor.

INFINIX HOT 4 LITE PRICE IN NIGERIA, KENYA AND GHANA

The Infinix Hot 4 Lite is now available in Nigeria and currently goes for N38,000 on Jumia. The price is likely to increase soon, so you had better hurry if you’re planning to purchase the smartphone.

Also, the Hot 4 Lite will cost KES 12,230 in Kenya and GHS 479.9 in Ghana when it becomes available in these countries.

Personally, I think its a fair price for a phone like this especially given that it’s ‘big bro’, the Hot 4 costs around N42,000 (was formerly N36,900) in Nigeria presently. Both the Hot 4 and its Lite version would surely compete favorably with other smart phones of the same price range. What do you think about this device? YAY OR NAY?

Let’s hear you…
