You know that feeling when you feel irrespective of the bad media, bad reputation and the bad everything, somewhere or something in Nigeria is making you proud on a very large scale. This could pass as a well fitted description for convenant university.

The Google women Techmakers meet up was driven by the belief that a diversity of perspectives leads to better decision-making and more relevant products. Google began Women Techmakers in 2012, helmed by former Google Vice President Megan Smith and is a global program that celebrates women, encouraging them to pursue and excel in technology careers.

“Our goal is to inspire passionate, creative women through discussions with thought leaders, technical workshops, design sprints and networking opportunities,” said Natalie Villalobos, Google’s Women in Technology Advocate leading Women Techmakers. “Overall, we aim to tear down the boundaries inhibiting women from participating in the industry.”

So just as the trend has been going on around the world since 2012, it is about to come to Nigeria. And guess what? Convenant university is to host it.

Covenant University will play host to the first ever Women Techmakers Meetup in Nigeria. Google’s Women Techmaker is an initiative that provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology.  The summit itself will be hosted in April by women tech makers at Google’s office in Lagos.

The date for the Meetup is set for the 4th of March at Covenant University, Center Circle, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Attendance is open to everyone once you register. Also, trust Google not to limit the meet up to only one state in Nigeria. So if you’re not able to attend this one, Other cities set to host the Meetups include Katsina, Enugu, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benin, and Kwara. You should surely be available for any of these.
