Fluid, Imara TV, Sopie Bot and Elihu are the products selected by iAccelerator programme organized with Nailab. The entrepreneurs of this product will have access to KES 1million seed capital. A program that will last for 4 short months will feature this entrepreneurs being paired with their mentors, mentors with obviously better experiences, the pair will embark on business management and development training and with this fund try and make things work. , United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA announced these products and will like to see them work it out. These startups went through a rigorous selection process and all the finalist were at Nailab for the event. iAccelerator programme is poised at making it free and easy for young adults to discuss their sexuality, sex and sexual reproductive health. This programme exposes youth to streams of information, credible and in a stigmatization free environment, away from people who are out to judge them. Lots of applications were submitted, a grand total of 92 applications and each one had solutions and ideas to promote and educate people more about youth sexual reproductive health and rights but, The best were shortlist till the finalists.
Head of Communications and Marketing at Nailab, Josephine Mwangi, “It’s been an intense period for the team who have focused on mining and catalyzing innovative thinking by engaging with the best minds as we talk innovations on SRH. This has been an interesting and quite an unexplored theme and we have learnt a lot from the young people in the process.”
The finalists are scheduled to undergo series of training, acceleration that will run till November 2016, they will prior to that undergo two months of business training with access to diverse markets, co-innovation partners and The united nations population Fund(UNFPA) network partners. The next two months will see them receiving the funds, the KES 1m.for them to actually get this capital, it will be based on their performances in the constant evaluation and already agreed business terms.
