We all aren’t alien to the fact that Facebook have always had a thing for taking on big tech companies like Big daddy Google, Snapchat and so on, as well as buying off small and potentially great companies – though sometimes, their bids are rejected.

Now, they are bringing the game to struggle users with powerful video platform, YouTube. Given the stats of people who watch videos online today, I’m having an optimistic thought that Facebook might be able to cause some trouble here.
How are they about to go about doing this, you might ask. Facebook is about to launch a new standalone TV app. The new app will let Facebook users watch videos from their friends and their ‘liked’ pages on TV, as well as watching the top live videos. Facebook also said that it will recommend videos based on ones you’ve already watched but (presumably) on a much larger screen.

Any user with Apple TV, Amazon’s Fire TV and Samsung’s smart TVs will be able to view Facebook’s user-generated videos through their own boxsets.
According to the Facebook CEO, powerful Mark Zuckerberg, he says he wanted “Facebook to become the place users go when they “want to watch videos or want to keep up to date with what’s going on with their favorite show.”
According to stats available, Facebook users were watching more than 100 million hours of video every day in early 2016, and Facebook wants even more. It is expected that the stats would have highly surpassed the above figures.

The new app, which will launch in the next few weeks, gives Facebook yet another way to reach consumers interested in videos and, most likely, another platform to sell video ads. I’m sure they’ll surely be happy with this one and use it to its maximal stretch.
