Writer. Asides being a writer, I'm incredible!

One of the hottest talk on the telecommunications scene in the nation is Etisalat Nigeria’s mixed fortunes. Well, not quite long after the former CEO of Etisalat, Hakeem Bola-Osagie stepped down from the seat of leadership, Etisalat Nigeria has appointed another CEO to fill the vacuum left behind.

The man chosen for the task is Mr. Boye Olusanya. Mr. Boye Olusanya is no newbie in the telecommunications scene as he was the former CEO of Celtel Nigeria, former Deputy CEO of ECONET Wireless, and former Chief Business Transformation Officer at Dangote Industries. That’s such a rich portfolio I must say.

Mr Boye Olusanya also holds a BSc. in Civil Engineering, MSc. in Environmental Civil Engineering from a Liverpool University, and bags an MSc. degree in Computer Science from Manchester University.

Also joining Mr. Boye Olusanya at the helm of affairs are: Mr. Oluseyi Bickersteth, Mr. Ken Igbokwe, and Mrs. Funke Ighodaro. These high profile individuals will make up the board and the top management team.

The decision made by the former CEO to wait  a bit after the takeover before he left the helm of affairs seems to be really productive because this shows the company is planning to put things in order as quick as possible.

“Although the chairman had planned to leave immediately the banks made the take-over move, he opted to tarry until a road map for the company was finalised. The timing of the resignation was strategically delayed till now when stakeholders have agreed a plan and comes more than a week after Mubadala Development Company directors tendered their resignation,” revealed by reports.

Just like the old saying, “soldier go, soldier come”, Etisalat Nigeria has moved on. Let’s hope the move will be one that will restore the company into its big state once more.

Meanwhile, congratulations Mr. Boye Olusanya!
