Talking about technological advances in Nigeria, Osun state will not be left unmentioned thanks to the step taken by its majestic traditional ruler on Tuesday, 12th July 2016 at his Ile Oodua Palace.
His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) of ile-ife signed a memorandum of understanding with SpringPort Technology Group, to build a $1.4bn worth Technology, Media City and Agricultural Incubation Hub in Ile-Ife
Before ascending the throne last year, the Ooni was a business minded individual who majors in engineering constructions procurement of materials, he has been involved in about 3000 housing unit, estate development and consulting services both locally and on international fronts for the past 12 years. Having just returned barely 3weeeks from a trip to the United States to seek involvement in Africans in diaspora unity agenda and also solicit support on tourism agricultural and infrastructural development of Osun state and Africa at large. His majesty is also very much involved in youth empowerment and development has this was part of his agenda for his loyal subjects.
Ooni Adeyeye expressed when speaking that the project would bring rapt development across Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and Africa at large. He explained that the partnership with House of Oduduwa was fastened to ensure the success of the project.
“The initiative is an encouraging one and I urge the team not to relent. When I visited the USA, I met with our people in diaspora and told them that people built USA, it did not just develop. Just like the USA citizens built America, I am glad that some Nigerians in the diaspora are also keen to the development of their mother land. –
With the Memorandum of understanding in place, the technological hub worth $1.4bn in its first stage is expected to facilitate employment of youths in Ile-Ife. The start-up stage of the master plan is to begin with investors in England and Asia.
Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi also said on Tuesday that,
“We don’t want this to be a typical project that will start and won’t end and because of that we need to sign the MoU today. We will also be fulfilling a larger part of what is expected of you by making available the required land.”
The representative of SpringPort Technology Group, Muyiwa Onitilo of Principle Technologies management services explained that similar initiatives helped India to generate over eight million employments. The agriculture hub is projected to create employment for 1000 youths in its first stage in Osun State. He added that, “the project will deliver a modern and progressive Ile-Ife with a strong real estate, technology and infrastructure backbone. It will deliver a master planned community that will allow residents to increase their productivity”.
