Aurora Flight Sciences also funded by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and The United States AirForce (USAF) has been developing its Lightning Strike XV-24A Vertical take off and landing Craft an autonomous military aircraft. In addition early this year Aurora also ran a successful test flight program for its XV-24A Demonstrator which is a sub scale version of the target and eventual production vehicle.
Boeing not being the only top notch aerospace company making advances with large bets on VTOLs Airbus commented saying that the target production is very well on track to start testing its first electric flying cars beginning next year; a path to what it expects will turn out to be deploying autonomous aerial taxi vehicles.
It is intended that on acquisition, all things being equal Aurora Flight Sciences will continue its operation as an independent subsidiary of Boeing and also will continue its job with the designing and production of autonomous aircrafts. Finally on an end note it is worthy of acknowledgment that the Aurora company has pioneered, designed and flown over Thirty (30) pilot free vehicles in course of its about twenty (20) years in operation.
