The second Round of the GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator Innovation Fund was opened on the 1st June 2017, and all pitches are to b submitted on or before 16th July 2017 at 11.59pm GMT. So invade you’re wondering what the Ecosystem accelerator is all about, READ ON.

The GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator Innovation Fund is committed to providing selected start-ups in Africa and Asia with grant funding, technical assistance, and also the opportunity to partner with mobile operators in their local markets to help scale their products and services into sustainable businesses with positive socio-economic impact.

The first round was held earlier this year, after which the GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator announced the recipients of the Fund grant. Nine selected startups across Africa and Asia were awarded a grant of £250,000 (which is equivalent to $322,000) to help scale their operations. Nigeria’s PrepClass was one of the recipients.

Well, the second round is here and call for applications has been made again. This time, the fund would have its focus on startups operating in the areas of the sharing economy, and services for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Grants provided by GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator are often within the range of £100,000 to £250,000. To be eligible, startups must be able to match 50% of these funds requested with third-party funding, assets, or sweat-equity.
