First, I must say that it is very good to know that the government has an input in technology. It u’re helps to increase the drive in its citizens. This is exactly the case with the most recent hackathon where Microsoft’s Bizspark and up to ₦1.5 million are available to be won. Let me introduce to you the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council’s (PEBEC) inaugural #PEBECHack competition.
This competition involves a series of hackathons, and is aimed at solving problems at the intersection between government policies, processes and regulations, and the ease of doing business.
Bringing together some of Nigeria’s finest techies to develop smart solutions to the problems addressed by the Council, this competition is just one of the likes that the country needs presently.
This edition of the hackathon will largely put it’s attention on developing a tool that’ll promote accountability and transparency among key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) which is very crucial to the success of Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business reforms.
This tool would enable the citizenry monitor, provide feedback, report, make complaints about the quality of service they receive from the MDAs or at strategic locations such as airports, seaports as well as land borders.
Are you interested in this competition? Then please do apply by 6 June 2017 as a team of 4 members with different skillsets. 10 – 12 teams will be selected for the hackathon which holds on 23 – 24 June 2017 in Lagos.
₦1 million has been set aside for the winning team, while the second and third placed teams get ₦300,000 and ₦200,000 respectively. Also, the three teams will get Microsoft’s Bizspark, and a stand at Techplus conference in July with an opportunity to meet potential investors and promoters. Quite mouthwatering offers, to say the least. So tell me, what are you waiting for?
