Technology giant Apple Inc. are obviously good with rolling out very good hardware, from their iPod,iPad,IPhone to anything Apple you can think of. However, even if their endless list of hardware have somehow found a way to last longer, their battery pack for some weird reason have always missed that way. Thats always a bad news for Apple fans, as Apple have some-weird-how found a hilarious way of depleting its gadget battery strength on successive gadgets line. A classic example is the iphone 6s and 6s plus fielding batteries with weaker strength than its predecessors .The Good news for Apple fans is; Apple is in fairly advanced stage of building batteries that could power its MacBooks and iPhones “for weeks”, according to new patent documents. So if your iPhone is constantly and perhaps annoyingly running out of precious electric juice, there might be light at the end of the tunnel.
The company has said it intends to employ ‘fuel cell system’ to dramatically increase the battery life of its devices.when they have run out, users could just swap them out for a fully charged one the company said. This type of technology was first used in 1883 and first commercial application was by NASA a century later.
A fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction of positively charged hydrogen ions with oxygen or another oxidizing agent .Fuel cells are different from batteries in that they require a continuous source of fuel and oxygen or air to sustain the chemical reaction, whereas in a battery the chemicals present in the battery react with each other to generate an electromotive force (emf).

The most important and basic feature of a fuel cell are;
The electrolyte substance which usually defines the type of fuel cell.
The fuel that is used, which is most commonly hydrogen.
The anode catalyst which breaks down the fuel
into electrons and ions, usually made up of very fine platinum powder.
The cathode catalyst which turns the ions into the waste chemicals like water or carbon dioxide. The cathode catalyst is often made up of nickel but it can also be a nanomaterial-based catalyst.

According to documents attached to the patent filed by Apple Inc. the fuel cell could be made of either of;
“sodium borohydride and water;
sodium silicate and water;
lithium hydride and water;
magnesium hydride and water;
lithium borohydride and water;
lithium aluminum hydride and water;
aluminum hydride;
an amine borane complex;
a hydrocarbon;
lithium aluminum hydride;
magnesium borohydride;
a magnesium borohydride-amine complex
compressed hydrogen gas;
and liquid hydrogen.”

Henri Winand, CEO of Intelligent Energy, the energy firm Apple is almost certainly getting its fuel cell technology from said that what his company has done is embedded the technology in laptops and in smartphones in such a way that the fuel cell is integrated into the device via a “skin” by which the fuel cell absorbs oxygen, combines with hydrogen and generates electricity. Other than integrating the technology, none of the devices have been modified in a way that takes away any of the existing functionality of the phone or the computer. This new technology may save consumer the hassle of searching for power outlets outlets every time their devices run out of juice.We can’t just afford to run out of juice in the train, plane, bus, automobile, or just plain walking down the street and any electronics maker with something close to a brain knows this. Apple’s current patents describe a system in which a fuel cell would operate alongside a normal battery, so consumers in theory might be able to opt to use either power system for their device. The trick is that the consumer would have to change fuel cell cartridges periodically, and it’s not clear exactly how the logistics for that would work.
