2017 is approaching and LG has been preparing to make it a fulfilling year for themselves too – we hope it is. They have decided to launch some smartphones next year, at the beginning to be precise at the Consumer Electronics Show which comes up on January 4th.
Though some people have opined that most smartphones launched in Q1 – Q2 in a year are usually a “joke”. While some of the phones LG prepares to launch might be fair to be called a joke, others aren’t which is synonymous with every phone maker.
Well, here we’re about to talk about the LG K3 (2017) which would be launched alongside some others in January and very soon, it would be left for you to decide if actually it passes to be called a “joke”. Just stay with me…
TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN
It should be a thing of great joy that a lot of mid-range phones now support the 4G LTE band, alongside with the usual 2G and 3G band. This is the case of the LG K3 (2017).
So how big is the LG K3? The LG K3 (2017) smartphone measures 133.9 mm as its length, 69.8 mm as the breadth and it is 9.5 mm thick. It also weighs 132g. talking about the screen, this phone measures a 4.5 inch screen, a half inch less than the LG K4 (2017) and remarkably lower than the LG K8 (2017) and the LG Stylus 3 which has the largest screen inch. Small inch smartphones do not entice me though.
Let me state that the phone runs on an android OS, v6.0.1 Marshmallow.
HARDWARE AND MEMORY
I don’t want to imagine how fast, or how slow a 1 GB RAM phone would be. Well, it is only appropriate for a phone of this caliber and category. The internal memory is nothing less than 8 GB, and can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card.
Just like one of its big bros, the LG K4 (2017), It uses a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 processor with only the accelerometer and proximity sensors without the fingerprint sensor.
The camera quality of this phone is definitely not impressive. A 5 MP rear camera with a 2 MP front facing camera smartphone should be an option for anyone who might be considering acquiring a phone for the purpose of making important use of the camera.
Any selfie taker generally would detest a front facing camera of just 2 MP, but then, it is one of the things that make it more of a lesser phone, different from its “seniors”.
LG Stylus 3 and LG K8 (2017) has a 13 MP camera, while LG K4 (2017) possesses a 5MP camera – all primary.
MULTIMEDIA AND CONNECTIVITY
WLAN Wi-Fi 802. 11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB v2.0 are all supported by the LG K3 (2017).
It depends on what you want to do with the phone, but I really don’t think a 2100 mAh battery which this phone possesses is going to do you any good. I don’t know how many hours the battery is supposed to last after charging fully but I don’t think it would survive through 10 hours while watching movies or playing games or surfing the net with it.
So based on the battery, it is definitely a no no for me.
Well well, the LG K3 (2017) would cost around N15,000 in Nigeria, which to me, is a fair price if the specifications are to be considered.
