Nigeria as a country has seen the very rapid rise and fall of various start-ups in its space. Almost as a daily routine, we witness the launch or emergence of another startup. Just that at the very end, the fate of the startup varies amongst two things. Either they become very successful in their chosen industry, or they die off and become irrelevant to our business world.

There are times that we, mere looking at the supposed potentials of a startup, can predict if that startup would be a success or not. Though we might be wrong some of these times, we still have to make these predictions anyway.

Today, I bring to you eight different start-ups that would shake their respective industries before the year runs out, or so I think. If I were to be the judge, these start-ups sure have potentials while still being at the early stages of their business journey. Just stay with me as I introduce to you…

We held a ‘meet’ post for this startup, which goes to show how well the idea is and our hope that it would wow the industry and take it by storm. With the trend of growth of the startup, it is envisaged that it is a very promising one that’ll start raking in millions in the very near future. It is not alien then that Jason Njoku’s Spark made a worthy investment in the venture.

JobHunters

Not too long before it was launched, JobHunters surely is a startup that looks very promising and would surely accumulate an amount of marketshare before this year runs out. They hold a unique approach and are launching into a very large industry that would likely not be able to be accomodted by just one platform.

Since the Artificial intelligence, Lara has resolved to make easy for us how we transport from one place to another, we deemed it fit for her to be added to this list. Lara is a startup that provides transportation directions around Lagos for now, and a hopeful expansion in the nearest future. We are banking on this expansion and listing them as start-ups to watch before the end of this year.

GlamAfric

You see, one thing that sells very well nowadays amongst mostly ladies is the beauty accessories. Why it sells that well is because of the emphasis a whole lot of ladies place on their beauty and wellness. And the fact that the industry is huge and growing makes us envisage that GlamAfric would soon hit us big, as they would surely be advantageous of the fact as first to launch in the industry.

Obeezi

Presently, apart from the popular names in the e-commerce industry, when it comes to fashion, not all of them are doing well. Save for jumia and konga. But we do have to give it up for Obeezi for their steady growth and it already feels like they are a real threat to the big guns. We see a bigger them in a bigger industry, as they sure do have potentials.

Kangpe

Kangpe basically connects patients to doctors. You would agree with me that the health industry in Nigeria is far from being standardized, and a Kangpe platform helps enhances this standardization. Just like some of the industries we have mentioned earlier, this one too is a very large one.

Kudi

Kudi is a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that helps you with your finances just by asking her. Kudi uses an everyday conversational AI system to communicate with you. She helps you transfer money, keep track of your account details, buy airtime, pay recurrent bills such as GOTV, DSTV And PHCN and she also reminds you when some of this bills are due. Kudi has proved itself a very good startup and would surely make waves.

VoiceIT

This is a Voice banking app which has won the 2017 Re: Code Nigeria hackathon, taking home ₦1.5 million and getting one year access to Microsoft Azure and the IBM platform. As creative as the startup is, with this huge funds too, we do expect it to be at the top of its game in some months time.

We do wish all these start-ups looking to make impact well. It would all be to our advantage and joy if the start-ups become big companies tomorrow as it would also have a direct impact on the economy. For now, I’d just say BEST OF LUCK TO THE START-UPS.
