Gionee‘s business model of making a scaled down version of some of their best selling phones has being very successful. The Gionee M5 Lite is one of such products. Coming as the scaled down version of the very impressive M5, the Gionee M5 Lite is also likely to be a popular model too from the specifications. Have a read and judge for yourself.
Design and Display
The M5 lite is encased in a very cool aviation grade aluminium alloy. This gives the phone that solid glossy look combined with a lightness that is the hallmark of that kind of alloy.
Weighing just 182 grams, the smartphone has dimensions of 143×69.9×8.5mm. This is the frame that supports a 5 inch HD IPO display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The pixel density tops out at 293 ppi. This is obviously good because those kind of display specs normally render crisp and sharp pictures with very good viewing angles.
Software, Storage and Processor
Coming after the M5, it is only right that the M5 lite would be packed with the latest softwares. The Gionee M5 lite spots the Amigo 3.0 OS based on Android 5.1 lollipop.
The quad-core smartphone has a MediaTek MT6735 chipset supporting a 64 bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Extra power for running multiple apps seamlessly is found in a RAM of 3GB and a Mali-T720 GPU to handle videos and graphics smoothly.
For storing videos, files and pictures, the M5 lite comes with an in-built internal storage of 16GB. There is microSD slot to expand the storage up to 128GB in case you prefer storing your files in the microSD card.
This is the feature most people would be interested in knowing about: just to see how the M5 lite matches up to the M5. At 4000mAH, the Li-ion battery is massive enough to give you over 40 hours non-stop talk time and up to 40 days of standby time. And just like the massive 6000mAH of the M5, this phone can also be used as a power bank to charge other phones.
On the Gionee website, the M5 lite is priced at 900 Chinese Yuan which roughly translates to just over 27000 Naira. So it is safe to assume that, with imports duties and sundry charges, the phone would be priced at no more than 30000 Naira. This is a relatively fair price for a budget phone with those specs.
