Just like other smartphone in the Asus Zenfone series, the Asus Zenfone AR is not left out as it retains the same design as other phones in the series. The device is also quite light weighted. At 170 grams, it is lighter than the iPhone 7 plus which weighs 188 grams. A sleek metal finish on the body also makes it beautiful to hold and a magic to the eye.

The Zenfone AR sports a 5.7-inch QHD display made with Super AMOLED and has a 2K 1440×2560 resolution panels and protected solidly with Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Asus did a great job in the processor department as the Quad core Snapdragon 821 processor was incorporated into the Zenfone AR. Powering all apps, phone function and multitasking is the 8GB of RAM and also to ensure the memory-intensive AR and VR apps don’t cause the device to hang during usage. There is, however, also a 6GB RAM variant available for purchase.

On the OS aspect, the Asus Zenfone AR rocks the custom Asus ZenUI 3.0, built on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The Asus Zenfone AR was produced with four amazing cameras; a 23MP main camera at the rear, a motion-tracking camera and a depth-sensing camera at its sides, and an 8MP selfie camera completing the setup at the front.

The 8MP selfie camera has a f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide-angle lens, this is guaranteed to provide users with an explosive and wonderful selfie experience.

The rear  comes with a dual-tone LED flash and this camera uses a Sony IMX 318 sensor and 6P Largan lens, and has a f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS and Laser Autofocus. The rear camera is also capable of doing 4K video recording and comes with four-axis OIS and it has a 0.03 second autofocus capability in both low light and high light conditions.


What’s the benefit of possesing an AR and VR in a device without an audio setup to complement? Well, the Asus Zenfone AR does have a lovely audio setup to complement. The device packs a built-in Mono speaker with five magnets and uses ASUS’ SonicMaster 3.0 audio technology. Asus also packs a DTS X Headphone with the Zenfone AR for high-quality virtual surround and smooth AR and VR experience.
